Butchery Supervisor
We are seeking a results-driven Butchery Supervisor to oversee daily butchery operations, ensure stock availability, maintain hygiene standards, and drive profitability. This role is ideal for a candidate with retail or FMCG experience who can manage staff, control stock levels, and deliver excellent customer service.
Butchery Supervisor Key Responsibilities
- Supervise butchery operations, ensuring targets and profitability are achieved
- Set and manage optimal stock levels per product category
- Ensure the correct product range is available at peak trading times
- Maintain availability of Key Value Items (KVIs) at all times
- Monitor and ensure accurate stock transfers and inventory control
- Conduct regular checks on price tickets to ensure accuracy and neat presentation
- Perform price surveys to ensure competitive pricing on key products
- Ensure correct packaging standards are applied to all products
- Maintain and enforce strict hygiene and food safety standards
- Ensure compliance with company systems, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Manage customer orders, queries, and complaints effectively
- Support team performance and maintain strong staff relationships
Butchery Supervisor Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Retail or Business Management qualification (advantageous)
- 1–3 years’ experience in a butchery supervisory role
- Strong decision-making and leadership abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to build relationships with staff and customers
- High level of integrity and accountability
- Strong numerical and stock management skills
Butchery Supervisor Inherent Job Requirements
- Willingness to work irregular hours based on operational needs
- Valid South African driver’s license
- Own reliable transport
- Willingness to relocate if required
