Job Description

VKB Agriculture is currently seeking a General Workshop Assistant. This role’s primary responsibility is to perform general tasks within the workshop environment with minimal induction required. The General Workshop Assistant plays a crucial role in the smooth running of the workshop and overall company success.

Minimum Requirements

The following minimum requirements must be met by candidates for the General Workshop Assistant position:

1. Grade 12 or NQF4 Qualification
   The possession of a Grade 12 qualification or equivalent recognized by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) is a prerequisite for this job.
2. Code EB Driver’s Licence
   A valid Code EB driver’s license is mandatory for this position. The General Workshop Assistant is expected to drive equipment around the workshop as well as assist in the loading and offloading of stock.
3. Loading and Offloading of Stock
   Applicants interested in this job must be physically fit, able to perform hard manual labour, assist with the loading and offloading of stock.
4. Maintenance of Cleanliness and Excellent Condition of Premises and Building
   One of the key responsibilities of the General Workshop Assistant is to ensure the workshop’s cleanliness and excellent condition continually.
5. Stock Control
   The General Workshop Assistant must be capable of handling stock control to track and manage inventory.
6. Offering Quality Customer Service
   The successful candidate must be able to provide quality customer service to customers and suppliers in line with the company’s policies and procedures.
7. Capable of Performing Hard Manual Labour

Responsibilities

The General Workshop Assistant’s day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. General Tidiness and Cleaning Duties
   The General Workshop Assistant must ensure the workshop area is tidy and clean.
2. Assisting Customers/Suppliers
   The worker must be able to assist customers and suppliers with loading and offloading stock whilst adhering to the company’s policies and procedures.
3. Stock Control and General Housekeeping of Premises and Building
   Maintaining stock control and ensuring that the premises and workshop building is in good order.
4. Workshop-related duties
   The General Workshop Assistant will help the workshop mechanic with any tasks necessary, contributing to the expenditure, and energy efficiency of the workshop.
